So we finally made it up to Mt. Hood. We set out on our quest to go up and play in the snow casually and have a big fat cup of steaming hot cocoa in the lodge. The drive up was great, the weather was amazing, clear and crisp.
Day 20 brought on something new with this challenge for all three of us, exhaustion, and unfortunately it was very apparent in this day's adventure. We were all getting sick and it was inevitable that the bickering between a loving couple would start up and it did, right around the time we parked at the lodge. We just could not get it together long enough to enjoy the activity. We stopped being irritable for only a moment to take in the amazing views and the scenery around us and laugh at Ana as she continued to try to eat the snow and have a good time playing even though her parents were struggling to have a have fun.
Once in the lodge it only got worse, Ana was getting tired and cranky and loud. Doc was getting more irritated and I was getting more frustrated and we were all going into exhaustion overload. We slurped down our drinks without much time to taste them and packed it up and headed home, a silent car ride home helped us get out of our funks and come back together at home where we had dinner and a nice night in.
Cocoa at the Lodge probably needs a do-over, maybe we will try again later this summer or next winter. We are not snow people so it isnt going to be on the top of our list but it was a nice thing to do and when in better spirits could really be a great day!
