Things made by moi!

I made this a few years ago after watching an episode of Martha Stewart. It was really simple, its basically tie dying the eggs with silk! I went to the local thrift store and bought a few silk blouses and scarfs in fun patterns - be sure they are 100% silk. I blew out about a dozen eggs and cut the thrift store finds into 4x4 squares, I also cut an old t-shirt into the same size squares - you could use an old sheet instead. I wrapped the eggs into a silk square then wrapped it again in a t-shirt square. In a large enamel pot i combined water and white vinegar and boiled the eggs for about 20 minutes. Removed from pot - careful HOT - and allowed to cool completely before unwrapping - the end result was beautiful!!!

The other day my mom gave me an old frame she had laying around her house. When I got home I got out my glue gun and some old screen material I had in the garage. The screen I had wasn't the usual silver metal mesh kind, it is actually a black plastic sort of mesh I got from Home Depot a while back to replace a broken screen window. Its really easy to work with an can be easily cut with scissors without harm to the scissors or your hands!  Another benefit is that I didn't need to use a staple gun to inhere it to my frame, just a regular old $5 glue gun. I wrapped the frame in the screen material making sure it was super tight. I added some flowers and glass rocks for decoration - NOTE: the silk flowers were actually used in my wedding, making it extra special. I hot glued some rectangular glass pieces to hang necklaces from an tada I was done! I fun jewelry holder that looks amazing hanging in my bathroom.

I saw this on Etsy, people are selling these candy dishes for around $50!!! I almost bought one before I realized "hey wait a shake, I can make that!". After a $5 trip to my local thrift store I had these three identical cute plates and 2 candle stick holders. I used E6000 - be careful and be sure to use it in a well ventilated place, I like to do this part in the garage and follow the instructions provided to secure everything in place. Tada!!! A $50 product for only $5! I made a few and used them recently for a baby shower I co-hosted at my house and they were a HUGE hit!

My sister's husband is in the Navy and he has a lot of old uniforms he no longer uses, after sending me one them along with a picture of a tote bag she had seen made from an old uniform I got started creating this amazing bag. I hesitated making this tote only because I was scared I would accidentally ruin the uniform and did not want to disgrace it. My sister also lives on a base so I wanted her to be proud to show it off to other military wives. Mission accomplished! I am so proud of this creation that I might try to get in on this new trend and start a side "send me your old uniforms and I'll transform them into a bag/tote/purse!" type business, what do you think????

I love pinterest! I am doing so many more crafts because of all the inspiration found with a click of a mouse. Another thing I love is reconstructing old t-shirts. I adore working with jersey and up-cycling tees is both simple and fun! Here is a necklace I whipped up from an old t-shirt hanging in my closet. It took about 20 minutes. All I did was cut the bottom hem off the tee then cut 15-20 strips - cutting through both layers of the shirt to create a tube like strip, stretching out each tube, bunching and tying them together at the nape of your neck and tada a necklace/scarf everyone will want to steal from you!
